Real
Artist: M. Sommers
Year: 2003
Notes: As the title suggests, for this album I migrated almost completely away from any sampled sounds and started to fully produce multi-layer songs, playing every instrument. "Real" is looser and more organic than previous works. Ironically, the opening song ("A demonstration") is one of only 2 tracks that use samples on this entire album. I was teaching myself to play drums, and had just purchased an acoustic guitar, so the singer-songwriter started coming out. "7" and "The plague" are examples of this. I still intended to push forward with the same open-minded format; let the music be what it wants to be. Two tracks ("Only you" and "The brotherhood of Aquaman") could have been Wiggly Wiggly Snake tunes ten years earlier. "Art vs Art" was written with Lanny Boles. "Kokomo" contains samples from James Rowand's "Kokomo". We're from the same town.
